MSC Cruises

Europe’s cruise giant brings Mediterranean glamour, gleaming new megaships, and fares that consistently undercut the U.S. majors — plus a private island that’s actually a marine reserve.

Mediterranean Style, Global Scale

MSC is the world’s largest privately owned cruise line, run by the Aponte family whose Mediterranean shipping roots go back three centuries. The fleet is among the youngest and most striking afloat — Swarovski crystal staircases, promenades under LED skies, and the new World class flagships sailing from Miami. In the Bahamas, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve flips the private-island formula: a restored industrial site turned protected lagoon where the evening lighthouse show happens after most ships would have left. The onboard crowd is genuinely international, the espresso is properly Italian, and the MSC Yacht Club — private deck, pool, restaurant, and 24-hour butlers — is one of the best luxury values at sea. Best trick of all: the Voyagers Club will status match your tier from other lines’ programs before your first sail.

The Vibe

Cosmopolitan and stylish — announcements in five languages, aperitivo hour taken seriously, and evenings that lean dressy without demanding it.

Signature Stuff

Ocean Cay Marine Reserve overnight stays, MSC Yacht Club, World-class megaships, authentic European dining, and the loyalty status match.

Who Will Love It

Travelers who want big-ship spectacle at smaller-ship prices, Europhiles, and anyone whose loyalty status elsewhere deserves a free upgrade.

MSC Cruises FAQs

The best loyalty shortcut in cruising: MSC Voyagers Club will match your existing tier from most other cruise lines’ programs (and many hotel programs) before your first MSC sail — which means instant discounts and onboard perks. We handle the match paperwork when we book you.

MSC’s ship-within-a-ship: keycard-access suites on the best decks with a private pool, sundeck, lounge, restaurant, and 24-hour butlers — drinks included. It consistently prices thousands below comparable luxury-line cabins, which is why it books out early. Ask us to price it against a balcony; the gap is smaller than you’d guess.

Yes — especially on the newest ships out of Miami and Port Canaveral, which were designed with U.S. guests in mind. The onboard mix is more international than on U.S. lines; most of our clients come home counting that as a feature, not a bug.

MSC sells packages under the Premium Extra, Alcohol-Free and Minors names, and there is one rule worth knowing before you book: gratuities are already included in the package price, so what you see is what you pay. The other rule catches families out — guests dining together at the same table are required to hold the same package. Premium Extra is honoured at Ocean Cay, though the non-alcoholic package is not accepted on the private island.

Apply online or ask us to submit it for you through MSC Book — what does not work is phoning the contact centre. You will need proof of your existing tier from another cruise line or a hotel programme, and approval typically comes back by email with your Voyagers Club number within about seventy-two hours. The critical detail: you get one application, ever. Multiple submissions are rejected, so it is worth getting it right first time, which is where we earn our keep.

MSC’s loyalty programme, free to join, running up through the tiers to Blue Diamond as the newest and highest status. Benefits scale from onboard discounts to more substantial perks as you climb, and membership stays active as long as you sail at least once every five years. Because the status match feeds straight into it, many of our clients start partway up the ladder rather than at the bottom — which is exactly why the match is worth doing before your first MSC booking.

It depends where you sail. On any voyage that includes a US port, MSC treats guests under twenty-one as minors; elsewhere the threshold is eighteen. There is also a minimum age rule on longer voyages — on sailings of eleven nights or more, children must be at least two years old at embarkation. Worth checking against your party before you fall in love with a particular itinerary, and we will confirm it against your specific sailing.

Start with the newest ships based in Miami and Port Canaveral — the World-class and Meraviglia-class vessels were designed with US guests in mind and carry the widest choice of dining and entertainment. They also visit Ocean Cay, MSC’s marine reserve in the Bahamas, which is the highlight of most Caribbean itineraries. If you want the experience at its best, the Yacht Club on those ships is the sweet spot. Tell us your dates and we will show you what is sailing.
