How do I get around Bermuda from the cruise ship?
Bermuda does not allow visitors to rent cars, so you use the island’s public buses and ferries, taxis, or a rented scooter or small electric two-seater. The ferry from King’s Wharf across the Great Sound to Hamilton is the pleasant option and doubles as a sightseeing trip. Buy a multi-day transport pass rather than paying per trip if you are staying two or three days. Buses drive on the left and the roads are narrow, which is worth knowing before you decide on a scooter.
Is a Bermuda cruise good for families?
Very. The overnight format is the reason — you can do a beach morning, come back to the ship for lunch and the kids club, then head ashore again in the afternoon without watching the all-aboard clock. Horseshoe Bay is a genuine swimming beach with calm, shallow water, and Royal Naval Dockyard has attractions within walking distance of the pier. Ships from the Northeast on this run are typically mainstream family lines with full kids programming.
What should I pack for a Bermuda cruise?
Beach clothes plus one layer more than you think. Bermuda sits well north of the Caribbean, so shoulder-season sailings in spring and late autumn can be breezy and cool in the evening — bring a light jacket or sweater.
