Twenty minutes by ferry from the pier, Blue Lagoon is the anti-waterpark: a private island with a shallow, sheltered lagoon, included loungers and hammocks under the casuarinas, and an easy beach barbecue lunch. Add-ons range from dolphin encounters to sea lion meet-and-greets.
It’s the right call for multigenerational groups — grandparents get shade and calm water, kids get inflatables, and everyone’s back with time to spare.

If your crew loves waterparks, absolutely — Aquaventure ranks among the world’s best, and the aquariums alone fill an afternoon. If you just want sand and calm water, Blue Lagoon delivers more relaxation per dollar. Either way, book before you sail: passes cap out on multi-ship days.
How far is Atlantis from the Nassau cruise port?
Fifteen minutes by taxi across the Paradise Island bridge — an easy hop. Water taxis and excursion transfers run from near the pier too. We arrange transfers with your pass so the day is door-to-door.
Which is better for young kids?
Blue Lagoon, usually — the lagoon is shallow, calm, and shaded. Atlantis shines for confident swimmers 8+ chasing slides. For toddlers who love fish more than flumes, Atlantis’s aquarium-only pass (The Dig) is a sweet middle path.
Can I do Atlantis and Blue Lagoon on the same port day?
We would not recommend trying. They sit in opposite directions from the Nassau cruise port — Atlantis is on Paradise Island, Blue Lagoon is a separate island reached by ferry — and each is built as a full-day outing. Squeezing both means paying twice and enjoying neither. Pick the one that suits your group and give it the whole day.
Do I need to book the Atlantis day pass in advance?
Yes, book ahead. Aquaventure day passes are capped and they do sell out on days when several ships are in Nassau together, which is most of the winter season. Walking up on the day is the single most common way people end up disappointed. We reserve yours before you sail so the day is settled.
What should I bring for a day at Atlantis or Blue Lagoon?
Swimwear worn under your clothes, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and a waterproof phone pouch. Wear sandals you can walk in — there is a lot of ground between the pools at Aquaventure. Bring a card and a little cash for food and drinks, which are not part of the day pass.
Is there shade and somewhere to sit at Blue Lagoon?
Yes — Blue Lagoon is set up as a beach day, with loungers, shaded areas and a calm, sheltered swimming lagoon rather than open surf. That sheltered water is the reason it suits families with small children and anyone who is not a confident swimmer better than the busier public beaches.
Should I book through the ship or independently in Nassau?
Either can work, and Nassau is one of the easier ports to do independently because the excursions start close to the pier. The trade-off is the usual one: a ship tour carries the back-to-ship guarantee, an independent booking does not, so if the return runs late the ship can sail without you. We book operators who publish cruise-schedule guarantees and we will say when the ship tour is the safer call.
