Which Disney ships sail the Caribbean?
Most of the fleet, most of the year: the Wish and Treasure headline from Port Canaveral, the Fantasy and Dream carry the classic 7-night and Bahamas rotations, and the Destiny extends the new class. Wherever the Magic and Wonder wander seasonally, the Caribbean remains Disney’s center of gravity.
Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay — what's the difference?
Castaway Cay is 25 years of perfected ease — bike paths, snorkel lagoon, Serenity Bay for adults. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is the gorgeous newcomer: Bahamian artists shaped it, the color palette alone is worth the walk, and the vibe is calmer. The best itineraries stack both — we hunt those first.
How far ahead should Disney Caribbean cruises be booked?
Earlier than any other line — Disney fares generally start lowest at itinerary release and climb as ships fill. For school-break weeks, 9–15 months isn’t extreme; it’s the plan. Get on our list and we pounce the day your dates open.
What is included on Castaway Cay and what costs extra?
A great deal is included: the beaches, including the adults-only Serenity Bay, plus loungers, umbrellas and towels, the barbecue lunches at Cookie’s and Serenity Bay, soft serve, the drink stations, the Pelican Plunge water platform and the children’s areas at Scuttle’s Cove. What costs extra is the specialty frozen drinks, equipment rentals, shopping and the private cabanas. Cabanas sell out far ahead, so tell us early if one matters to you.
What is there to do at Lookout Cay?
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point sits on Eleuthera and leans more into Bahamian culture than Castaway Cay does. Included are the family beach and an adults-only Serenity Bay, chairs, umbrellas and towels, the True-True barbecue, soft serve and drink stations, the Sebastian’s Cove children’s area, the Rush Out Gush Out water play, Junkanoo performances, a cultural centre and the lighthouse nature trail. Smoothies, specialty coffees, the adult bars and rentals are charged separately.
Are there formal nights on a Disney Caribbean cruise?
Not in the way other lines mean it. Most evenings are cruise casual — smart jeans, collared shirts, dresses and skirts all work, though swimwear and tank tops are not permitted at dinner. Shorter sailings add a pirate deck party and an optional dress-up night. Longer sailings include one formal and one semiformal evening, and Disney is explicit that both are optional. Most families use them as a photo opportunity rather than a dress code.
How do gratuities work on a Disney cruise?
Disney recommends a set amount per guest per night, charged for every guest in the stateroom including children, at a higher rate for Concierge. You can prepay online before you sail, or leave it to be added to your onboard account. Disney treats gratuities as optional throughout, and they can be adjusted at Guest Services if something has not been right. We will give you the current rate when we quote so the total is clear.
What is the Castaway Club?
Disney’s loyalty programme, and unusually it counts completed sailings rather than nights — so a short Bahamas cruise advances you as much as a long one. You reach Silver after one sailing, Gold after five, Platinum after ten and Pearl after twenty-five. The benefits are genuinely worth having: Platinum brings a complimentary dinner at Palo, and Pearl adds early boarding and an unlimited digital photo package.
